Kalrez O-rings are a type of O-ring made from perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) that are designed for use in demanding conditions with high temperatures and extreme chemicals. They are available in different compounds that are formulated for specific applications, and fillers and additives can change the finished properties. Kalrez O-rings are used in many industries, including: Chemical processing, Oil and gas, Pharmaceuticals, Food, and Wafer processing.

Kalrez O-rings can withstand temperatures above 300°C and severe down-hole conditions, such as high pressures, corrosive fluids, and aggressive sour gas. They are FDA-compliant and offer low contamination, excellent seal life, and full traceability.

Kalrez® seals are used in aerospace and aircraft engines because they can withstand high temperatures and maintain their sealing properties. Kalrez® seals can operate in temperatures up to 327°C (621°F) and retain their elasticity and recovery properties better than other elastomers after exposure to high temperatures. They are also resistant to a wide range of process media and aggressive chemicals.

Semiconductor Processing Seals

Kalrez® seals for semiconductor processing are field-proven in the manufacture of semiconductor chips.

They can help extend planned maintenance intervals, and thereby lower long-term cost of ownership, in a wide range of semiconductor processes. 

n a number of fabrication customer evaluations, Kalrez®seals exhibited improved mechanical strength, lower particle generation and longer seal life versus competitive perfluoroelastomers, in both static and dynamic sealing applications.

BETTER PERFORMANCE FOR SPANSION

Spansion, the largest provider of flash memory solutions, turned to DuPont for material options that would produce longer seal life with reduced particle generation. High particle count and leaks from seal erosion and compression set caused seal issues in multiple processes. Kalrez® 9100 parts exhibited significantly less seal erosion, reduced particle generation, and provided better elastic recovery characteristics.

Kalrez 8002
  • A clear, unfilled product for plasma and gas deposition applications like etching, ashing, and PECVD. It has good mechanical properties and resists dry process chemicals.
Kalrez 1050LF
  • A black product for wet process applications where amines are present. It has good thermal stability, mechanical strength, and resists amines.
Kalrez 9100
  • An amber translucent product for deposition process applications like HDPCVD, PECVD, and SACVD.
Kalrez 9300
  • A brown product for etch processes, especially in plasma environments with ions and radicals.
Kalrez 9600
  • A cleaner seal material that can reduce chamber contamination and preparation time.
